Toronto Gears Up for the World’s Best to Take to the Ice!

After 12 years of anticipation, The World Cup of Hockey is back.  This long awaited tournament will kick off tomorrow, Sept. 17th   when Team USA faces off with Team Europe at 3:30pm, followed by Canada and the Czech Republic at 8:00pm on SportsNet and CBC.

There is a lot buzz around the hockey world, especially for Team North America’s young stars.  The squad full of potential breakout players and the future of the NHL consists of American and Canadian players ALL under 23 years old.

Toronto’s Air Canada Centre will play host to all of the International Hockey Tournament’s games where spectators can see the World’s best hockey teams compete.  The All Star line ups feature the national teams from: the United States, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic.

Scotiabank will be hosting the World Cup of Hockey Fan Village, a 10-day free fan festival in downtown Toronto at the historic Distillery District from Sept. 16th  to Sept. 25th. It will be the epicentre for fans throughout the tournament with something exciting for everyone. The free festival will celebrate the food, music and culture of all participating hockey nations. Each day will feature a new and thrilling line-up of fun  family-oriented activities.
